BBF has received critical acclaim for its Christmas cake and mince pies in Good Housekeeping magazine’s prestigious Christmas 2018 taste test results.

The annual blind taste tests, which have become a part of Christmas tradition for the UK food and drink industry, ranked two products produced in BBF’s bakeries as the joint best Christmas cakes for 2018. Morrisons Best Poinsettia Christmas Cake scored 83/100 and testers praised the cake for being moist, juicy and ‘full of flavour’; while the Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Falling Leaves Iced Rich Fruit Cake received the same score with testers praising its balanced taste and ‘adorable’ design. Morrisons The Best Hand Finished Star Christmas Cake, again baked by BBF, also made the top ten.

Having taste tested over 400 Christmas products, Good Housekeeping named M&S ‘The Collection’, again produced by BBF, the UK’s joint runner-up in the Mince Pie category, scoring 79/100. Testers praised the buttery pastry and flavoursome mincemeat while also saying they ‘loved’ the snowflake design. In total four of the top eight mince pie products were baked by BBF including: Iceland’s Luxury Mince Pie, Tesco’s Finest Mince Pie and Asda Extra Special 6 All Butter Mince Pies.

Commenting on the test results Jonathan Lill, BBF CEO, said: “Good Housekeeping’s blind taste tests are incredibly influential. As a supplier to the UK’s leading retailers, having our produce ranked highly by taste testers is a fantastic endorsement for the quality we consistently achieve across a range of products, cementing our authority in the market.

“This is the result of a great team effort; BBF is growing exponentially and the results demonstrate the success of the people behind the scenes who have truly delivered for Christmas 2018.”

The annual blind taste test of festive food products from 58 retailers across 17 categories helps consumers find the best Christmas foods, from the most delicious mince pies, to the tastiest fizz. Good Housekeeping’s full Christmas 2018 taste test results can be viewed here.

“BBF is an exciting addition to our rapidly expanding client roster. To have the opportunity to grow the profile of an already well-established, successful business in order to help it meet the ambitious growth targets expected by its private equity owners is a glowing endorsement of our credentials in the food and drink sector.

BBF Coffee Morning

Posted on October 4, 2018

A big thank you and well done to all of those involved with the various activities that have taken place across BBF in support of Macmillan and East Lancashire Hospice.

A fantastic amount of effort went into the Bake Off by all contestants and bakers who just baked for fun (not for the competition), the day wouldn’t have been the same without everyone’s efforts, so again thank you to all!

Across the total business, we raised in excess of £2,000 which is a huge achievement.

Have a look at the attached link to see some of the support across the North West for MacMillan including ourselves.
