The team here at BBF Limited has been working with leading supermarkets across the UK to reduce the plastic used in our packaging, with the aim of removing more than 22 tons from packaging annually. We have also committed to no longer offering black plastic, which is harder to recycle, while offering plastic-free alternatives for packaging where possible.

In addition to this, we have pledged to reduce our footprint on the environment by implementing various initiatives across all business operations.

Since 2017, we have been achieving our zero waste to landfill commitment, while also reducing electricity and gas usage by 8.5% and 4.5% respectively. Furthermore, we have made various investments into infrastructure to reduce food waste significantly, while also rolling out comprehensive training to educate and support our employees on reducing food waste.

As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental footprint, we have also joined WRAP (The Waste and Resources Action Programme) and, as part of our pledge to the programme, planned to reduce food waste and surplus by 15% within 12 months – which we have already surpassed.

We’re continuously building on the infrastructure we already have in place to ensure we’re reducing our environmental impact as much as possible and will continue to streamline the initiatives we have implemented to work towards the targets we have set to achieve over the next few years/beyond.
